Jack Green. One of the main objectives for Tharsis Technology is that it wants to progress and develop technically by using practical and scientific investigations. The business from Huelva has made its mark with the development of ambitious projects of design for particle accelerators.
Tharsis Technology employs professionals, physicists and engineers working mainly from the University of Huelva. One of the associates is Rafael Berjillos, who worked with four other colleguaes over five years to create this engineering consultancy within the science industry.
Berjillos said that “we started the business as a service company. We design mechanical systems, 3D structures, scientific instruments focussed on particle accelerators and now we are expanding our business to other sectors”.
The company also contributes a lot to the local economy. Their machinery and design parts are created in Huelva and the surrounding area. Berjillos also stated that he is “…open to suppliers from other regions of Spain and abroad”.
In terms of customers, in Spain it is a niche market and focuses on small projects on electronic and mechanical designs, working with univerisites and public institutions. However, the main aim is to attract laboratories in Europe that work with nuclear physics.
Promoting and building the particle accelerators “… attracts famous scientists, wealth, scientific production, employment and large investments” highlights Berjillos, who is confident that his projects will succeed next year. He is hoping to keep expanding into the rest of Europe where he a huge interest in CERN, Switzerland.
