Recreativo search for a striker to “improve what we already have in the team”

Sergi Barjuan con el carnet del RecreJack Green. Sergi Barjuan wasn’t happy in his appearance before the media. It was a similar situation for the coach last season, when he showed no regret for not having time for Alexander. Now the situation is even more difficult as he (Alexander) has now gone to Danish club Brondby.

The Catalan coach admitted that he “did not expect it”, especially when the player revealed on Sunday that he was going to stay. Sergi described the situation as a “catastrophe” in the hours that led up to the Argentine’s departure. He said that he understood the opinion of everyone that was involved. However, this has left the team shorter than before.

The coach also made the point that as Alexander was a major player within their scheme, this now disrupts their title bid. It is also a worry that the team only have 19 professional players in the squad.

Sergi stated that “the club has said it will see who is on the market” but as well “with not a lot of time and finding a striker is difficult because all of the teams want the same thing”. What is clear is that “things will be done coherently, and we are not going to bring a player for the sake of it”.

The problem is that Recre struggles to compete economically with the main clubs. Sergi has the bottle half full in this case: “We have something that beats other clubs, not involving economics, in that our project has convinced more players to come to Recre for less money”.
